Dr Wallace has been an active philanthropist for decades. She has co-founded two not-for-profits, both of which are sub-funds of the Sydney Community Foundation.

Indigo Express

In 2009, Catriona and her daughter Indigo Wallace-Knight co-founded a charity called Indigo Express. This fund is part of Sydney Women’s Fund which is a sub-fund of Sydney Community Foundation.

Indigo Express funds literacy projects for Indigenous young people. Its literacy programs were developed in partnership with the National Centre for Indigenous Excellence (NCIE).

Kids in Philanthropy (KiP)

Kids in Philanthropy was founded in 2011 by Catriona and her son, Saxon Wallace-Knight. The fund is a sub-fund of Sydney Community Foundation.

KiP focuses on children researching and raising money for children who are in need and has been a highly successful program.

KiP’s Melbourne chapter has also set up its own operations and continues as an impactful fund for young people.

Responsible Metaverse Alliance (RMA)

In 2022 Dr Wallace founded and launched the Responsible Metaverse Alliance (RMA) which Catriona funds philanthropically, purposefully not accepting money from big tech.

The RMA works with policy makers and law enforcement across the world to lobby and strategise for a safe and responsible metaverse – with a focus on safety of young people.

Publications that the RMA has produced include Metaverse Standards, Policing in the Metaverse Think Tank 1, Educators and the Metaverse and Policing in the Metaverse Think Tank 2.
